Franklin Park Speedskating club member Emery Lehman, an 8th grader at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School in Oak Park, was declared the 2010 Junior C Men Long Track National Champion in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, weekend of February 19th-21st. The best junior long track speed skaters in the country, ages 13 to 19, compete in one of three separate age divisions in this yearly national event. |

Emery, the youngest skater in the Junior C
Men division, skated to personal bests in all
four distances. He came in first in the 1,500
and 3,000 meter races, beating his closest
competitor in the 3000 by more than 7 full
seconds.
Emery also took third in the 500 meter
distance. Based on total point accumulation
for all four distances, earned the title of
Junior C Men Overall National Champion.
Lehman was also the 2009 Long and Short
track National Champion.
